We have four cats in our cattery: Silk, Polgara, Quicksilver and Choko.

On june 26th 2003 Polgara gave birth to four wonderfull kittens

Silk and Choko are Maine Coons, and the two others are Norwegian Forest cats. We've both been used to having cats at home, so "what's a home without a cat?" (or several...)

We picked Maine Coons and Norwegians, since some research shows that those breeds have fewer cat allergens than other breeds. And of course, they are beautiful cats with a lovely disposition.

Read more about the cats in their own pages.

The story about "Garion"

Garion is the main character in two book sequences by David Eddings - The Belgariad and The Malloreon.

Garion is a young man who lives and works at a farm together with his aunt. It turns out that he is the last survivor in a line of kings, and that he has magical abilities. Garion - later known as Belgarion - at times has difficulties accepting that he has been chosen to carry out a number of complicated tasks in order to save the world. His recurring line is "Why me?".
We think that's a good way to describe what it's like to share your home with Norwegians and Maine Coons.
A plant pot has been turned over, there are leaves and soil all over the floor, and a happily purring cat is running in circles around you demanding attention.
*Why me???*

About DK Garion

DK Garion is most definitely a hobby. At present, we only have one breeding female - DK Gillian's Citronmånefigur, usually known as Polgara.
The other cats are neuters. Just like many other breeders we would like to breed healthy and well-typed forest cats with a good disposition. We will also emphasize genetic variation. We will not breed cats who are related, and we hope to use stud males of lines which are not too commonly used for breeding in Denmark.

About us - and how we got our cats

We didn't mean to breed cats, and we didn't actually mean to have a cat. But when you've "always" had cats at home, after several years in student housing you really long to have a cat again once you have your own home - right?
Pernille was fond of Norwegians, but also liked Maine Coons, and since Jesper fell for a Maine Coon kitten, we bought him - Silk. A week later we picked up Ce'Nedra, as you cannot have a cat on his own in an apartment.
A few months later Pernille discovered that Polarstjernens Electra was pregnant, and she mad an agreement with Mette about a tortie female, who was born March 1, 2002, and was given the wonderful name Citronmånefigur. She moved in with us in May 2002.
In the mean time, pretty Choko was sent back to her breeder, since she wasn't doing well in her new family, and Pernille convinced Jesper to let her move in - in August 2002.

Shows

During all this Pernille developed an interest in shows and breeding. You can meet me at cat shows mostly in Jutland and Funen, and you will also see me clerking. I like to clerk, because I learn a lot about cats, and it's very interesting to work with the judge. I am also attending the Norwegian Forest Cat course by Norsk Skovkattering to provide me with more knowledge about breeding and raising happy and healthy cats.
